Oceanside has officially dropped out of the race to host the new Charger's stadium.

The council's decision leaves only Chula Vista as a possible destination for a new Chargers stadium. The team has a contract with the city of San Diego to play at Qualcomm Stadium through the 2019 season.

The Chargers are considering two sites in Chula Vista as possible locations for a new stadium. The countywide search began in May 2006, and the team would like to select a site by the end of the year.

After negotiations with the selected city, the team wants to put a stadium plan before voters in November 2008.
